Reformation is delighted to announce that as of May 2022, we have progressed from an informal university-based organisation to a fully established charity! This, we foresee, will enable us to improve our efforts even further through the recognition associated with proper legal registration. This includes protection under the law, tax advantages, and perhaps most importantly the public recognition and gravitas which accompanies the status. Our formal recognition allows us to inspire ourselves and indeed, the public, in our mission of promoting humanity at home and abroad. As the weather improves in the transition from April through to May, the hope of new fortunes is carried along with the promise of summer. By being a charity fully in name we also open the opportunity of collaborating with other organisations, synergistically enhancing the ultimate difference we can make.

One of our proudest moments in our brief history is our huge Ramadan drive. We are continually raising funds to provide iftar food packages to struggling households in both the UK and abroad. Our recent drive raised a grand total of £16,155 for 200 families; highlighting not only the success of our efforts, but the warmth of spirit of our own communities. We will endeavour to provide ongoing food support to malnourished children; particularly in Yemen, where the brutal and cruel conflict still rages after many years.

Reformation is not inherently a political entity, it is a charitable one - but our social work inevitably intertwines with the effects of contemporary policies and events. We cannot help but be disappointed at the disparity in awareness of the suffering in many nations; a child starving in Sana'a is just as heart-wrenching and unacceptable to us as one in Kyiv, London or anywhere else. With the confidence begetting our status, we hope to advance our cause of raising awareness among the Great British public of some of the more obscure conflicts leading to deprivation. Do make an effort to inform others of the reality of these terrible events, too. Our work depends on the proven generosity of the public, who have proven how willingly they will help those in need.
Promoting awareness is therefore an important foundation to our fund-raising.

We all look with concern at the rising cost of living and anticipated fuel poverty, which adds all the more impetus to our efforts to ensure our future drives are successful. If previous efforts are anything to go by, we have confidence we will be able to make a noticeable difference to the sad circumstances which have befallen many people across the world, through no fault of their own.
Our iftar drives were ongoing in 2022. We provided food to families in Nottingham and London with continued identical efforts for families in Iraq and Bahrain.
In 2023, our commitment will not cease. Keep an eye on our social media and sign up to our newsletter at the bottom of this page to stay up to date with such projects and find out how you can help!

If previous efforts are anything to go by, we have confidence we will be able to make a noticeable difference to the sad circumstances which have befallen many people across the world, through no fault of their own. Our iftar drives are ongoing; in Nottingham we anticipate we will be able to provide food for up to 100 families; with continued identical efforts for families in Irag and Bahrain. The drive for Irag has raised £350 to date, and the more we can gather the more help we can provide.
Sadly, the world has not stopped giving us ample need for charity. The need for humanitarian relief will needless to say expand as millions of Ukranian refugees flee the devastating conflict they have been subjected to. We accordingly urge all our members and supporters to contact their MPs to express dissatisfaction with the appalling way asylum seeker applications have been handled. Charitable efforts are not restricted to money - time is often as valuable. A concentrated effort to express indignity at the way people fleeing warzones, including Syria and Palestine, are treated may well put untold pressure on those making relevant decisions to remember the graciousness and humanity these events call for.

Looking ahead, we are sure our iftar drives will go from strength to strength. As COVID restrictions have relaxed, we hope we can host increasingly more events as a focus to spearhead our fundraising, and therefore our good work. Do keep an eye out on our social media pages for information on these and be sure to get your tickets.
